KHALANGA, July 15: Jumla’s Tila Rural Municipality has declared itself a fully vaccinated local unit. Rural municipality chair Ratannath Yogi shared that the declaration was made when children of all nine wards of the rural municipality were fully assured of vaccination access.
He said, “We were successful in declaring the rural municipality a fully-vaccinated zone. It was only possible with the untiring efforts of health workers, women health volunteers and people’s representatives of Tila. The rural municipality has made a crucial achievement. As education and health are the fundamental rights of children, vaccination needs to be given continuity. No children will be deprived of access to vaccination in Tila”

The rural municipality has laid emphasis on the health sector, Yogi added. They have provided health check-up services to senior citizens and children at their doorstep.
There are only five health posts within the rural municipality. Earlier, children were deprived of vaccination services while mothers would spend most of their time doing household chores.
Vice-chairperson of the rural municipality, Bishnu Budha said the establishment of four additional primary health centers and three health units in Tila has made it easier to bring all children within the reach of the vaccination service.
