KATHMANDU, Sept 29: National champion Ruslan Three Star Club of Nepal will vie with I-League side East Bengal in the title clash of the 64th Bordoloi Trophy in Guwahati, Assam on Friday. It will be the second chance for Three Star to lift the trophy after finishing second in the tournament six years ago.
Three Star had defeated Sikkim United 4-1 in extra time during the semifinal match on Wednesday after they were tied 1-1 in the regulation time. Unlike Three Star, East Bengal had overcome Shillong Lajong 1-0 on the same day to fix the final date.
In total, Three Star has scored 12 goals and conceded four while East Bengal has managed to maintain clean sheet.
Three Star is cautious of its opponent and termed it as one of the best teams of South Asia. “East Bengal is one of the best teams of South Asia and our players are exhausted to play the final after a short gap,” Three Star coach Meghraj KC said. “However, they are determined and will leave no stone unturned to win in the final. I hope the match will be exciting.”
