KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Three road sections within Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)  are set to be made one-way.

According to Jagat Man Shrestha, a transport expert of the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, with joint efforts of the people's representatives of the related wards of the metropolis, the traffic police office, and the KMC, three road sections where two-way traffic is currently permitted are going to be operated as one-way.

Likewise, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Division Rajendra Prasad Bhatt stated that the road from Tripureshwor to Gusingal via Setopul (new bridge) linking Kathmandu and Lalitpur will also be transformed into a one-way route.

Although the decision has been made to make the roads one-way, traffic signals and public notices are yet to be issued to inform about it. A few days after the publication of the public notice, passengers and drivers will be informed about the one-way traffic. Afterward, the new traffic rules will be enforced, and fines will be imposed for any violations.

If the decision is implemented, it will be possible to go from Tripureshwor to Sanepa through the Setopul (new bridge) connecting Kathmandu-Lalitpur, but it will not be possible to return to Tripureshwor through the same route. Those traveling that way from Lalitpur have to use the road leading to Teku.

Similarly, for vehicles heading from Ratnapark to Jamal and Durbar Marg, left turns from the front of Trichandra Campus toward Kamaladi via Ganesthan, Pragya Bhavan, and from Putlisadak via Kathmandu Plaza to Hattisar will be restricted. Left turns from Kathmandu Plaza to Mahendra Salik in Hattisar will also no longer be permitted.
