KATHMANDU, Oct 18: Three road sections within Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) are being operated as one-way routes from today.

The road section from Tripureshwar to Gusingal through Setopul (new bridge) connecting Kathmandu to Lalitpur has been declared a one-way route. With the implementation of the one-way route, the riders can go from Tripureshwor to Sanepa through the Setopul (new bridge) connecting Kathmandu-Lalitpur, but it will not be possible to return to Tripureshwor through the same route. Those traveling that way from Lalitpur have to use the road leading to Teku.

Similarly, according to Jagatman Shrestha, a transport expert of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the road leading from Kamaladi Mode to Ghantaghar via Pragya Bhawan and the road from Mahendra Shalik at Durbar Marg to Krishnapauroti Chowk (Kathmandu Plaza) have been made one-way. With this, vehicles heading from Ratnapark to Jamal and Durbar Marg, left turns from the front of Trichandra Campus toward Kamaladi via Ganesthan, Pragya Bhavan, and from Putlisadak via Kathmandu Plaza to Hattisar will be restricted. Left turns from Kathmandu Plaza to Mahendra Salik in Hattisar will also no longer be permitted.

A team of 10 police officers each from the traffic police and the KMC has been deployed in that road area to inform passengers and drivers about the one-way traffic.
