Three private sector leaders appointed as members of Economic Reform Advisory Commission

A cabinet meeting held on Thursday appointed Chandra Dhakal, president of the Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Rajesh Agarwal, president of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries and Kamlesh Agarwal, president of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce as members of the commission on behalf of the private sector.

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: The government has appointed representatives from the private sector as members of the High-Level Economic Reform Advisory Commission.


A cabinet meeting held on Thursday appointed Chandra Dhakal, president of the Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Rajesh Agarwal, president of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries and Kamlesh Agarwal, president of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce as members of the commission on behalf of the private sector.

The government formed the commission in October to present a report with recommendations on the steps needed for economic reforms. The five-member high-level economic sector reform advisory commission is chaired by former finance secretary Rameshwar Khanal.


Prof Dr Ramprasad Gyawali, Dr Prakash Kumar Shrestha, Dr Bishwas Gauchhan, and Dr Kalpana Khanal are among the members of the commission. With the cabinet decision on Thursday, three more members have been appointed to the commission.


The commission is currently collecting opinions and suggestions from various stakeholders for economic reforms.
