While leaders of the establishment faction are fielding separate panels, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba is all set to announce his own panel on Wednesday. From the establishment faction, Sujata Koirala is also in the fray for the top party position.
Three leaders from the establishment faction announced their candidacies for party president on Wednesday.
Nepali Congress Acting President Poudel announced his candidacy amid a press meet at the party office at Sanepa. Shashanka Koirala, party leader and son of NC founding leader BP Koirala, will vie for the post of general secretary from the Poudel panel. The panel has not announced a candidate for party treasurer.
Another candidate for president, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, has included youth leader Gagan Thapa as his candidate for general Secretary while Uma Kanta Chaudhary is candidate for treasurer.
Sujata Koirala declared her candidacy for party president at a press meet at her residence in Mandikatar. Sujata, who is the only daughter of the late NC leader Girija Prasad Koirala, claimed that her candidacy is not a bargaining tool but a move to lead the party.
