According to a source, the names will be forwarded to the upcoming cabinet meeting, which will pick one person from the list of three recommended candidates, as per the NRB Act.

Earlier, the government had formed a three-member committee to recommend the names of three candidates for governor of the central bank.

The committee headed by Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai includes industrialist Krishna Prasad Acharya and former governor Himalaya Shumsher JB Rana.

The new committee was formed after the government decided to remove suspended governor Bijaya Nath Bhattarai, who has been facing corruption charges. The decision was taken on the recommendation of a committee headed by former Supreme Court Justice Udaya Raj Upadhyaya.
