The number of Nepalis dying of COVID-19 in foreign countries has risen to 315
KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Three more Nepali nationals succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in foreign countries in the past one week, the Non-resident Nepali Association (NRNA) said on Sunday.
According to the NRNA, the umbrella organization of Nepalis living abroad, a Nepali died of the virus in the United Kingdom and two Nepalis died of the virus in Portugal in the past one week.

With this, the number of Nepalis dying of COVID-19 in foreign countries has risen to 315, a health committee under the NRNA stated.
Sanjeev Sapkota, chairperson of the NRNA health committee, said that 53,385 Nepali nationals have been infected with the coronavirus since the COVID-19 outbreak last year. Of the infected Nepalis, 50,656 have recovered.
According to the NRNA health committee, more Nepalis living in Spain, Poland, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar were infected with the virus in the past one week.
Nepal likely to receive vaccines against COVID-19 from April
Meanwhile, Sapkota said that Nepal is likely to receive vaccines for COVID-19 from April this year. The NRNA health committee has stressed the need for enforcing precautionary measures in Nepal as neighboring India has already recorded cases of the UK coronavirus variant.
The NRNA health committee has also urged Nepalis living in India, the United Kingdom, and the United States in view of rising cases of the UK coronavirus variant in these countries.
