KATHMANDU, June 12: Power generation by some hydropower projects has been stopped to lay wires from the newly constructed towers on the Mid-Marsyangdi-Marsyangdi transmission line, which was affected by last year's floods and landslides.

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has shut down the 70 MW Mid-Marsyangdi, 50 MW Upper Marsyangdi and 30 MW Nyadi Hydropower Plant situated in Lamjung for a whole day due to the maintenance of the transmission line.  These power houses will be shut down from 6AM to 6PM today.

According to NEA, the line for laying wires in the new tower constructed in the tower of Mid-Marsyangdi-Marsyangdi 132 KV double circuit transmission lines, which was damaged by the landslide on July 3 last year, has been shut down. As the transmission line has been shut down, the power generation from the power house connected to the line will be stopped automatically.

Electricity supply through alternative arrangements

NEA will supply electricity to the consumers of the affected areas by making alternative arrangements. Similarly, the export of electricity to India will also be decreased compared to other days as power generation from Mid-Marsyangdi will be stopped on Sunday. Only about 200 MW of electricity will be exported to India today.
