Three foreign nationals arrested with over 5 kilograms of gold from TIA

KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Three foreign individuals have been detained at Tribhuvan International Airport on Tuesday evening with five kilograms and 700 grams of gold in their possession.

KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Three foreign individuals have been detained at Tribhuvan International Airport on Tuesday evening with five kilograms and 700 grams of gold in their possession.


According to APF DSP Shailendra Thapa, Chinese national Jianzhong, along with Myanmar nationals Satt Naing Tun and Ei Ngone Phoo were detained with the illegally imported gold. They arrived in Kathmandu via Air Arabia flight G9530 from Sharjah.

During a recheck in the customs baggage area, around 5 kilograms and 700 grams of gold were found hidden inside 12 speakers in their luggage. Following this discovery, a joint team from the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office and the security team of the Armed Police Force at Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Security Post took the individuals into custody.


The three individuals who have been detained at the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office for further investigation.
