KATHMANDU, May 6: Three people died and 11 others were injured in a bus accident in Dhankuta. Among the injured, two are reported to be in critical condition.
The bus (Ko 1 Kha 2177) was traveling from Dharan to Bhojpur on Monday when it veered off the road and plunged approximately 50 meters down at Gothgaon of Dhankuta Municipality-6 along the Koshi Highway.
One dead, 14 injured in Dhankuta bus accident

The deceased in the accident have been identified as the bus driver, Rudra Tamang, 51, from Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City–13 of Sunsari, Lila Bahadur Shrestha,51, from Bhojpur Municipality–11 and Krishna Kumari Rai Bhujel,73, from Dhankuta Municipality–6.
According to police, Krishna Kumari died on the spot, while Tamang and Shrestha passed away during treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.
According to the District Police Office, Dhankuta, other injured individuals include Surya Mani Tamang and Anmol Tamang from Shadanand Municipality–13 in Bhojpur; Krishna Raut from Barahakshetra Municipality–2 in Sunsari; and Ganga Prasad Sapkota from Pauwadungma Rural Municipality–3, Bhojpur.
Police also reported that other injured individuals include Sabina Baraili and Devi Tabik from Bhojpur Municipality–11; Hansha Bahadur Rai from Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality–6; Kapurna Maya Tamang from Shadanand Municipality–11 in Bhojpur; Dirgha Maya Rai from Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality–6 in Dhankuta; Ayush Rai from Itahari and Dhan Kumar Bk from Dhankuta–6.
