The office building of Namche Village Development Committee (VDC) was completely destroyed in the fire that began in the morning. Two hotels adjacent to the VDC building have been partially damaged. [break]
As tourists staying in Namche Hotel and Sunshine Hotel were immediately evacuated, there was no report of human casualty,
However, the fire destroyed properties worth over Rs 10 million, according to Area Police Office of Namche. The office of Namche Post Office and a hardware shop were also partially damaged by the fire.

It took more than two hours for a joint team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force and the locals to extinguish the fire. The cause of fire has not been ascertained yet.
However, Police Inspector Sunil Dahal said somebody might have thrown cigarette butt on a stack of firewood near the building.
