ILAM, Nov 1: In the vicinity of Pashupatinagar, along the Nepal-India border, three Bhutanese citizens were detained by a team of Armed Police Force (APF).
They were apprehended while entering into Nepal on foot from India near the four-mile marker of Pashupatinagar.
Three Indian nationals arrested with weapons
The detainees have been identified as 44-year-old Faudsingh Rai from Bhutan's Chirang district, 20-year-old Bishal Rai from the same district, and 45-year-old Dhan Kumar Rai from the Sarwang district.
The APF team conducted a search and confiscated restricted items along with foreign currency. The seized items included Indian currency and various goods valued at NPR 425,000, as well as Bhutanese currency amounting to NPR 3,756. Additionally, two Bhutanese passports were found from their possession.
Sources indicate that although the detainees possessed Bhutanese passports, they were carrying a significant amount of Indian currency. It is believed that these individuals may have previously entered Nepal via the Kakarbhitta border point in Jhapa.
The APF team handed over the detained individuals and the confiscated items to the Revenue Investigation Office in Itahari.
