Three persons planning gold robbery land in police net

KATHMANDU, July 15: Police has arrested three people who were planning gold robbery along with weapons from New Buspark in the capital city Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU, July 15: Police has arrested three people who were planning gold robbery along with weapons from New Buspark in the capital city Kathmandu.


The joint team of police personnel from the Metropolitan Police Office and Metropolitan Crime Division arrested them from Tara Guest House acting on a tip-off that they are going to get involved in illegal activity.


The team has seized one petro barata automatic pistol made in Italy and five live rounds of ammunition with ‘Wcc 0.8’ inscribed on them from Tara Guest House on Sunday.

Those arrested have been identified as Sabin Khawas( 36) of Jhapa, Ram Kumar Rai(37) and Pritam Rai( 27)  of Nuwakot.


On March 2, 2017, Sabin Khawas had murdered Mandorje Tamang, a resident of Hyangfedi-7 in  Nuwakot. Khawas served a jail term at Dillibazar prison after he was found guilty of murder. He was released from prison on November 20, 2018.


After serving the jail term, Khawas met Ram Kumar Rai and Pritam Rai. Pritam Rai was arrested on the charge of murder on December 8, 2018.


On Sunday, Khawas asked Pritam and Ram Kumar come to Kathmandu from Nuwakot with weapons.


They met at around 11 am at Tokha and planned to loot gold. They met again at a café along the ring road at 4 pm to plan a robbery.


Acting on a tip-off, Police arrested them before their second meeting scheduled to plan gold robbery took place.


An investigation into the case is underway, according to a press release issued by Metropolitan Crime Division on Monday.
