MAKWANPUR, Dec 10: In Makwanpur, the police have arrested three people on the charge of demanding a ransom of Rs 10 million. Those arrested are Nischal Paudel, 33, Ganesh Ghale, 35, and Pritam Chhetri, 30, of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-9.

The three demanded the ransom money from Suryaprasad Paudel of Hetauda-9 on December 5. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Sitaram Rijal, they also fired shots at Paudel's house. Nischal Paudel, who was among those who demanded the ransom, was Surya Prasad's nephew. All the names of the three accused were disclosed by the police on Sunday.

According to SP Rijal, the arrested group fired five rounds at Surya Prasad's house. He said that the main planner of the incident was Nischal Paudel.

"The initial investigation revealed that it was Nischal who ordered the shooting at Surya Prasad's house," said SP Rijal. “Fortunately, there were no casualties from the bullets fired, and it was determined that the shots were intended to pressure the victim for the ransom. The accused had allegedly threatened over the phone that they would harm Surya Prasad Paudel if the ransom were not paid,” Rijal added.

The police recovered 20 bullets along with a pistol from Nischal, the planner. It was further discovered that the suspects were involved in drug activities, operating from a rented room in Hetauda-4. The police seized two motorcycles, two grams of brown heroin, five mobile phones, and Rs 50,000 from the trio. The three arrested individuals will face charges related to attempted murder, drug trafficking, and possession of weapons, according to the police.
