Resulting from a constant rise in population, the mountains are melting. A number of mountains are also being polluted because of the waste disposed by the mountaineers there. Artist Aasha Dangol presented the increasing pollution levels at the mountains through her artworks. A solo exhibition named ‘the worthful himalayas’ is currently showcased at the Dalai-La Boutique hotel in Thamel from April 5.
Amalgamating the tears of mountains and Lord Bhairav’s fury, Dangol successfully depicts the anger of a mountain in his painting. “We have Mt Everest. However, the pollution levels have increased on a daily basis. This increased pollution levels is the outcome of large quantities of trash dumped there by the mountaineers. They (Mountains) are bursting into anger which I have portrayed through the Bhairav’s anger,” Dangol said. “Government should take strict steps in minimizing the pollution levels in the mountains,” he added.
Mountains including Machhapuchre, and Mt Everest are comprised in this series. He has used the acrylic medium in depicting his artworks.

Moreover, ‘Where is My Village and City’ reflects the massive 2015-earthquake’s impact on different villages and cities. He depicts the devastation of residence in the village and the earthquake’s impacts on cultural heritage in this painting series.
He has used the blue color in most of his paintings. “Sky of Kathmandu valley was blue around 25 years ago. However, the sky nowadays is losing its natural beauty because of increasing pollution. This saddens Kathmandu’s residents. Thus, I have included a blue color to inspire people to be optimistic,” he shared.
Around 20 new and old artworks are displayed at the exhibition.
The exhibition is slated to run till May 5.
