KATHMANDU, Feb 1: The government is striving to steer the country toward peace, equality and prosperity, Prime Minister KP Oli said on Thursday, claiming that his government is laying the groundwork for overall development of the country.

“The government has been putting in all its efforts for all-round development. Nobody needs to worry about the state of affairs of the nation henceforth,” said the prime minister addressing a gathering after inaugurating a broader children's festival at his hometown in Damak. Oli said that the only objective of the leftist government is to steer the country toward equality, peace and prosperity, and added that the groundwork has already begun for the same.

Oli said that his government was working hard to address problems facing the nation.

“The government has been building bridges and roads across the nation. We just concluded the survey for railways. The construction would start once we find an investor,” Oli said.

On a different context, Oli claimed that Nepal's 'unprecedented success' in institutionalization of federalism was one of a kind in the world.

“I have been to big (global) forums. I have been to UN forums. In Davos, I talked about works happening in Nepal. The whole world has been astounded by our achievements,” said Oli, taking credit for the integration of employees and other works related to federalism.

Despite the widening gulf between the center and the provinces over governance-related issues, Oli claimed that there is harmonious relations between the three layers of government-- federal, provincial and local government. Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut had threatened to picket Singha Durbar if the plain only province's demands are ignored.
