Why the shift from radio to online media?
I’m always looking for new experiences. I took a leave from radio for my board exams when I was in class 12 and then decided that I would work in a different place, just to get a new taste of working.
But which do you prefer?
While in the radio, I used to report grave issues related to ordinary people. Now I report about normal happenings of celebrities and news that’s related to entertainment. Both these jobs are satisfying, equally, but in different ways.
Where do you see yourself in the long run?
They say that media persons are known for changing their jobs frequently. (Laughs). I know I’ll be working in media, but I’m not sure in which medium.
So why media?
I guess because I entered the professional world through the media? I don’t see other options for myself. Sometimes, I would like to settle for a 10-to-5 desk job but media is addictive. Once a person is in this field, it’s difficult to go away.
What, for you, is a downside of working in this field?
Many times, I’ve been threatened for writing news, especially if they include negative aspects of a celebrity. Celebrities are all on your side when you write good things about them. But when it comes to reporting about the negative things that they have done, they take it very personally and become aggressive. As a reporter, I write things as they are, and so when I face such situations, I try to convince the person to the best of my abilities. When that doesn’t work, I just let it be.
