KATHMANDU, Aug. 10: CPN-UML lawmaker Nita Ghatani has criticized Prime Minister Balendra Shah for broadcasting his address to the nation through his personal Facebook page, saying the country should be run through official state institutions, not social media views.
Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, Ghatani said it was regrettable that the prime minister was bypassing official state channels in what she described as an attempt to increase Facebook views.

“The country is not run by Facebook views. An address to the nation should be delivered through official communication channels, not Facebook,” she said. “Was he addressing the nation, or strengthening the monetization of his personal Facebook page?”
Ghatani also demanded clarification from Prime Minister Shah over his remarks concerning Nepal’s border with India.
She further criticized the government over shortages of cooking gas and soaring prices. She accused the government of failing to ensure fertilizers and fair prices for farmers and said it had also failed to make the health insurance program effective, even as poor citizens continue to die due to lack of access to treatment.
