Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has said the government has presented the budget for the coming fiscal year 2022/23 as a means to raise funds for the upcoming elections.

Participating in a discussion on the budget in parliament on Wednesday, Lingden said, "The budget has been presented to make the public forget the problems and issues at hand. The budget will not bring any change to our lives.” He also said the budget is more election-centric than development-focused.

"It's a budget that traditionally distributes, takes commissions and raises money for elections," Lingden said. He also said that the government has no plans to stop the economic crisis or control inflation. Lingden alleged that the budget was brought through deals with companies and businesses.
