The birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah is being celebrated

On this occasion, a special program will be held at the Shah's statue complex located in front of the west main gate of Singha Durbar. A special program is organized here every year on Poush 27.

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The birth anniversary of the then King Prithvi Narayan Shah is being celebrated across the country today by organizing various programs. This year, the 303rd birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan, who was born to King Narbhupal Shah and Queen Kaushalyawati in Gorkha on Poush 27, 1779 BS, is being celebrated.


Prithvi Narayan Shah became king on Chaitra 25, 1799 BS. Before that, Nepal was divided into 52 kingdoms. After becoming king, Prithvi Narayan succeeded in expanding Nepal's borders from Teesta in the east to Chepe River in the west. After Prithvi Narayan's death, his successors have a history of expanding the Nepal kingdom to Fort Kangra in the west.

Prithvi Narayan Shah conquered Nuwakot in 1801 BS. 25 years later, he conquered the Kathmandu Valley in 1826 BS. After conquering the Nepal Valley, Prithvi Narayan Shah expanded the country's borders by conquering Chaudandi, Vijayapur, etc. in the east.


The 303rd birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah, who initiated the unification of Nepal with the support of all castes and languages, is being celebrated across the country today with various programs. On this occasion, a special program will be held at the Shah's statue complex located in front of the west main gate of Singha Durbar. A special program is organized here every year on Poush 27.
