GORKHA, Sept 9: A total of 490 schools in Gorkha, which were damaged by the devastating earthquake of 2015, have now received new or repaired buildings. According to Bishnu Prasad Mishra, chief of the project implementation unit in Gorkha, rooms that were partially or fully damaged have been rebuilt.
KATHMANDU, Aug 5: A total of Rs 276.3 billion has been spent on post-earthquake reconstruction that includes government buildings, educational institutions, health centers and archeological heritages, among others.

GORKHA, July 31: The blacktopping of a 30-kilometer stretch of a road in Bapark has come to a standstill as the road project office scrapped the agreement with the contractor, Nagarjun/Trishuli JV, citing extreme negligence in work. The stretch covers one-fourth of the Barhakilo–Barpak road.
GORKHA, June 18: The asphalt on the road from Katusghari to Baguwachhetra in Gorkha district that was blacktopped only a month ago has come off. Of the 10.2 km stretch of the road, only 4.2 km has been constructed so far.

Life hasn’t been the same for residents of Barpak in Gorkha after the earthquakes of 2015. It’s been four years and they are still in the process of rebuilding their lives. However, the locals fondly talk about the Barpak that is etched on their minds even as tremors continue to remind them of the calamity that changed their lives.

GORKHA, March 30: The government has decided to construct a Bailey bridge to help Pappu Construction, notorious for leaving many infrastructure projects incomplete, complete a bridge project across the Trishuli River, that will join Chitwan's Ichhyakamana Rural Municipality and Gorkha's Gandaki Rural Municipality.
GORKHA, March 28: Three cadres of the group led by Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav' have announced their disassociation with the group. Issuing a statement here Wednesday, the group's district member Anil Kumal, youth member Gokul Kumal and area committee member Meghraj Kumal announced abandoning the group.
GORKHA, March 24: As soon as he assumed office in September 2015, Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli made a promise to replace all the improvised cable crossings known as tuin in the country would be replaced with suspension bridges. He said that tuins, which putt people’s lives at risk, would become extinct within two years.
GORKHA, Mar 1: The District Coordination Committee (DCC) of Gorkha has made an attempt to stop the rampant extraction of construction materials from its rivers. Following complaints from various quarters about the use of heavy equipment in the extraction, the DCC has fixed time for such activities.

GORKHA, Dec 15: Negligence by contractors has halted the reconstruction of the historical Gorakhkali Temple. As per the agreement, the construction should have been completed within a year but the repeated halt in the work has made it almost impossible.
GORKHA, Dec. 9: A free health camp was organized at Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality-1 in Gorkha district on Saturday. A total of 423 locals received the free health care services from the camp jointly organized by the rural municipality office and Rotary of Bajra Manaslu, Gorkha.
GORKHA, Nov 12: There are 25 ambulances operating in Gorkha but none is available for emergency services, thanks to the monopoly of drivers. On Saturday, 21 people were injured when a passenger bus en route to Gorkha from Abukhaireni met with an accident. Locals and relatives started looking for ambulances to carry the injured to the hospital. Sadly, they could find none.
GORKHA, Nov 7: Gorkha has now transformed into a hub for educational tourism. With students from all over the district thronging the historical site, the Gorkha Museum currently welcomes a total of 600 to 800 students on a daily basis.

GORKHA, Oct 16: A decorated palanquin with ‘fulpati’ has been dispatched to Hanumandhoka of Kathmandu from the Gorkha Durbar Dashain Ghar. The helpers at the Gorkha Durbar send off the palanquin with the fulpati to Kathmandu at the auspicious hour on Tuesday morning after performing the due rituals.

GORKHA, Sept 2: The Chepang communities of Gorkha were hopeful that their villages would be linked by road when former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai laid foundations stone for a concrete bridge over Trishuli River three years ago. The construction work was contracted to Pappu Construction Pvt Ltd at a price tag of Rs 174 million. But there has been little headway in the project, with no sign of completion anytime soon.
