Tharuhat Council defies prohibitory order

DANG, August 25: Despite prohibitory order from the District Administration Office, the Tharuhat Autonomous State Council amidst a press conference on Tuesday made public its future programs. The CDO had slapped a ban on all activities of the Council on Monday.



The central coordination committee of the Council said it plans to recruit 5000 additional combatants. It has also established a “general staff” under the chairmanship of Laxman Tharu to chalk out the policy to run four of its brigades. The Tharuhat “national military gathering” in Dang also approved its “army regulation 2066.” The Council is also planning to issue its own citizenship certificates in western Tarai for which it has formed a three-member committee.
