Prohibitory order extended in Banke

KATHMANDU, May 11: The Banke district administration has extended the prohibitory order following the escalation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country with a new variant of the virus. The District Administration Office, Banke, issued a notice on Monday and extended the prohibitory order till May 17.

KATHMANDU, May 11: The Banke district administration has extended the prohibitory order following the escalation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country with a new variant of the virus. The District Administration Office, Banke, issued a notice on Monday and extended the prohibitory order till May 17.


The administration office has extended the prohibitory order for the third time till 12 midnight on May 17. Chief District Officer Shivaram Gelal said that the prohibitory order had to be extended as the situation became worrisome because the COVID infection rate did not go down during this period.

"The ban has to be extended to make COVID prevention, control and treatment management more effective," he said. The administration had issued a prohibitory order in the Nepalgunj area on April 22 and then all over the district on the night of April 26.


The local administration has stated that operation of ambulances, hearses, fire engines, flagged vehicles and vehicles with blue (diplomatic) plates, long distance vehicles and freight vehicles, means of transporting construction materials, vehicles used by manpower deployed for emergency services, vehicles with permission (pass) will be allowed.
