MAKWANPUR, June 18: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa said on Tuesday there will be again monarchy in the country and that deposed monarch Gyanendra Shah will return as king after the new Constituent Assembly elections.

Thapa said the agenda (of reinstating monarchy) adopted by his party is gaining increasing momentum in recent times and that there will be some ‘unexpected’ election results this time around. He went on to say that his party will win a majority seats in the elections. [break]

Though there are some doubts still lingering, the new elections will finally be a reality due to mounting pressure from the people and emerging political circumstances, Thapa claimed. But he said the four major parties should take lead on that. He also said the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist and Upendra Yadav-led Madhesi People’s Rights Forum Nepal should be convinced to take part in the elections. The pro-royalist leader had ‘secret’ talks with former king Shah in Hetauda a day earlier. He however said it was just a courtesy call.
