KATHMANDU, July 6: Stating that the High Level Political Committee (HLPC) should be dissolved, Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party- Nepal Kamal Thapa has stressed the need for an all-party meeting before the Constituent Assembly (CA) poll.

Speaking at a press meet organized by Reporters´ Club in the capital on Saturday, Thapa said, “HLPC should be dissolved if it has obstructed the political process,” said Thapa, adding, it is meaningless to hold the November 19 polls by sidelining the Baidya-led 33 party alliance.” He also accused the Khil Raj Regmi-led government of failing to address the concerns of the people. Maintaining that the CA election must be held on the scheduled date of November 19, he said that the polls cannot be held until the four-party syndicate is not done away with.

He also said that his party would not form election alliance with any other party.

On a separate note, Thapa said, “India´s conspiracy and direct intervention in the domestic affairs of the country led the monarchy´s end.” He further blamed the ultra-communists for the abolition of constitutional monarchy.

Meanwhile, speaking at the Reporters´ Club Nepal in the capital on Saturday, CPN (UML) leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari said that November polls can only institutionalize democracy and the achievements of the April movement. “To draft the new constitution, CA election is a must and we all should create favorable environment for it,” said Adhikari.
