MELAMCHI, Jan 28: The Thangpalkot VDC located in the alpine region of the Sindhupalchowk district on Friday was declared the Cardamom Pocket Area.
Senior Agriculture Development Officer, Hikmat Kumar Shrestha, made the announcement at a programme held by District Agriculture Development Office and Taaltuleshwori Micro Entrepreneurs Group, Thangpalkot.
The region has been growing cardamom for the past decade. The farmers say that the cardamom production is fostering in Thangpalkot while many villages have become self-reliant due to the production. The cardamom farming covers an area of 900 ropanis of land in the region. RSS
