KATHMANDU, Feb 15: After six years, the chairman of the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP), Mahantha Thakur and Hridayesh Tripathi, the chairman of Janata Pragatisheel Party (JPP), are set to reunite.

The two leaders who had previously separated before the 2074 BS election, are about to reunite again.

LSP Secretary Manish Mishra said that there are ongoing discussions about a potential working unity between the two parties, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.

Mishra said that the JPP had submitted a proposal for working unity and negotiations are underway. He said, “The decision will be announced within a few days, raising the possibility of these two parties uniting once again.”

In 2074 BS, after the formation of Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) by uniting six Madhesh-centered parties, Tripathi wanted to hold the chairmanship position in the unified party. However, Thakur did not include Tripathi in the chairmanship, leading to dissatisfaction. After that Tripathi  left the then RJP.

Tripathi won the election in 2074 BS with the CPN-UML’s election symbol.
