DARCHULA, Nov 20: Security personnel deployed at a polling station in Darchula fired blank shots in the air after a clash erupted at the polling station. The police fired three rounds in the air after the tensions broke at Malikarjun Secondary School-based polling station in Shailyashikhar Municipality-5 of the district.
The police said that they resorted to firing shots in the air to disperse the crowd that had gathered following a dispute between members of two parties contesting the election.
It has been reported that the voting process has come to a standstill due to the clash. Police Inspector Rajesh Shahi said that an all-party meeting is currently being held to resume voting at the polling station.
