Ten Nepali nationals  succumbed to COVID-19 in India last week

KATHMANDU, May 3: As many as ten Nepalese have died from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in India last week, taking the death tally of Nepalese in India to 71, according to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). 

In addition, another Nepalese citizen breathed his last due to COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia last week.

As many as  382 Nepalese citizens have succumbed to COVID-19 as of Saturday in 29 different countries across the world, according to the latest data from NRNA.

According to Dr Sanjiv Sapkota, the coordinator of the health committee under the NRNA, over 20,000 Nepalis living in India have contracted the coronavirus. Around 17,000 of them have already recovered as of Sunday. 

Also, 86,679 Nepalese across 54 countries have contracted COVID-19 out of which 82,197 have recovered so far. A large number of Nepali nationals living in Malaysia, India, Kuwait, the U.A.E, and Saudi Arabia were infected with COVID-19 in the past one week.
