The highest ever temperature recorded in Kathmandu is 36.6 degree Celsius, which was recorded in May, 1989. The highest temperature recorded so far this year is 35.2 degrees (April 24).
"The maximum temperatures have remained in between 30 and 40 degrees Celcius, which clearly indicates that highest temperature will be well above 36.6 degrees this year," says Shrestha.
Along with this, says Shrestha, the minimum temperature also remained comparatively high. The minimum temperature hovered in between 11 and 13 degrees this year.
The high temperature is likely to develop thunderstorms in the hilly regions within the next week. Along with this, brief showers of heavy rains will keep falling in the late afternoons in the hilly regions. However, total cloud cover, which is required to reduce the maximum temperature, isn´t likely in the coming days, due to low humidity, according to Shrestha.
"The current temperatures will continue to rise until the monsoon turf enters Nepal around June 10," says Shrestha.
