Sources at DoCSM said the company was inspected after it they received complaints against it. “We found flies and dead insects in the raw materials being prepared at the company´s production outlet,” Hari Narayan Belbase, director of DoCSM, told Republica.
Belbase said the company was also found using pumpkin instead of tomato - a key raw material for different types of sauces.“It´s a heinous act. Anyone putting consumers´ health in risk should be punished severely,” he said. “We decided to arrest the owner after conducting necessary investigations.”
Meanwhile, Pramod Koirala, spokesperson for DoFTQC, said the company was sealed as it has been found using unhygienic materials and substandard materials in its products. “The company was also found using substandard raw materials a year ago,” Koirala said, adding, “At that time, we had warned the company to make production area hygienic.”
Belbase said action against Rosy Products Company and its owner will discourage other traders and manufacturers involved in such crime.
Meanwhile, Dakshya Kumar Basnet, Inspector at Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati, said Sainju will be charged under Black Markeetering Act and Some Other Social Offences and Punishment Act, 1975.
