Team to probe chopper crash

REPUBLICA, Nov 9: The government has formed an investigation team to probe Sunday´s Fistail Air helicopter crash.



The helicopter 9N-AIX AS350, which flew from Lukla to rescue mountaineers at Mt Amadablam crashed Sunday morning near the base camp of the mountain.



A press release issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) stated that the committee was formed after a minister-level meeting.



The investigating team comprises former secretary Nagendra Prasad Ghimire; Captain Promod Lama, senior pilot of Air Dynasty; Dipakraj Koirala, senior engineer at Mountain Helicopter; Ranjit Singh Baral, the cordinator of Aviation Medical Board; and MoTCA under secretary Suresh Acharya. The committee has been given 60 days to submit its report.
