As per the existing provisions, only those who have either graduated in education or possess at least three years of teaching experience can apply for a license. It is learnt that a huge number of applicants have submitted fake experience certificates to qualify for the exams.
“We have received a lot of complaints,” Uday Raj Soti, chairman of TSC, told myrepublica.com. He, however, ruled out complaints of fake academic certificates. “No one has so far submitted fake academic certificates,” he said, adding. “Our problem is only with those who have sought license on the basis of experience.”
About two weeks back, students of Mahendra Ratna Campus had stormed into the Kathmandu District Education Office (DEO) demanding that TSC look into fake documents submitted by aspiring teachers.
TSC had constituted probe committees in all 75 districts to investigate into the matter. As of now, almost all the probe committees have submitted their reports to TSC. “We found fake documents in almost all districts,” Soti said.
In Kathmandu alone, as many as 248 applications are found to have registered with fake experience certificates. “In some documents, applicants have claimed to have worked for schools even before they were established,” Narayan Kaji Shrestha, member secretary of probe committee constituted for Kathmandu, said. “Many of them have used fake names and signatures.”
According to Soti, TSC will write to the District Administration Offices (DAOs) concerned to take action against applicants who submitted fake papers. “We have scrapped all applications attached with fake documents,” Soti said. “DAOs will take further action against such applicants.”
