According to the company, it will import Hayate and Swish from India where it is assembled. Parts of both the bikes are imported in India from Japan.[break]
The 112.8 cc Hayate will be available in two options: kick start and electronic start. It four cylinder engine and comes with multi-plate type clutch and wet sump lubrication system. It gives mileage of 55-60 km per liter on highways, according to the company. Hayate has fuel tank capacity of eight liters.
“We believe that the bike will get positive response in the market as it is cheaper and five gears, whereas all other bikes in its segment have four gears,” said Pramila Khatri, sales manager of Ganesh Enterprises.
Hayate will compete with entry level-bikes from other brands like Splendor of Hero Honda, Discover of Bajaj, CB Twister of Honda and YBR of Yamaha.
“We aim to sell 1,000 units of Hayate within a year of its launch in Nepal,” said Khatri.
The bike will be available in five color options: pearl mirage white, metallic lush green, pearl mica red, GL sparkle black and metallic flint grey.
The Suzuki Swish scooter has 124cc engine that delivers maximum power of 8.58 bhp at 7000 rpm and maximum torque of 9.8 nm at 5000 rpm. It has ground clearance of 160 mm and is 1,780 mm long, 650 mm high wide and has height of 1,140 mm.
“Though the scooter is available in blue, white, black, red and grey colors, only blue and white scooters will be available in Nepal initially,” added Khatri.
Suzuki Swish has fuel tank capacity of 6 liters. It has a wider tubeless tires and maintenance free battery.
Suzuki India had launched both Hayate and Swish during Auto Expo 2012 held in the Indian capital in January.
Though the company had earlier said that Hayate will be available at around Rs 140,000 and Swish at Rs 170,000, the bikes are likely to cost higher due to weakening of US dollar vis-à-vis Nepali currency.
