Survey officer nabbed for receiving bribe Rs 100,000

CHITWAN, July 5: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested an officer at district Survey Office, Bharatpur, Ram Kanta Acharya, on the charge of taking Rs 100,000 as  bribe on Sunday morning.

Acharya, who was absconding from Saturday, was arrested today by a team deputed from Central Zonal Regional Office of the CIAA, Hetauda.CIAA accused Acharya of taking bribe from Moti Bahadur Baraili of Bharatpur.

Acharya had asked from Baraili Rs 100,000 in exchange of accomplishing his work illegally.

Baraili had been visiting Survey Office since February with an application to include three dhur lands in his land ownership certificate which was in field map but not mentioned in his land ownership certificate.

CIAA had raided Acharya's office as soon as Baraili left the room.

CIAA had been inspecting Survey Office, Bharatpur since last Tuesday after they frequently received a complaint regarding the increasing trend of corruption in the office.
