Surendra proudly says that the band he belongs to may have gone through many ups and downs, like band members going abroad, and just two of the original members remaining, but it’s still one of the strongest bands of Nepal.
“The musicians of our band are brilliant,” he explains. “They have a better sense of music than I do,” he explains.

When they started working together right after their schooldays, they were a group of four. But now there are six of them, and they aren’t only taking out albums but also providing music to songs of Nepali movies, including, at present, “Saathi.”
Singh never learnt music formally but has left imprints on the hearts of Nepalis inside and outside Nepal. “Hukka mero,” “Kaha hola gharabara” and and other songs have made them a well-known band name in the music industry of Nepal.
Myrepublica met with Singh, the lead singer of Karma Band, to talk about his favorite bands.
His first favorite band is Cobweb. “I like the band because of the types of songs they play,” says Singh, naming the members of the band. “All the members of this band are my friends, and I think they are doing a great job.”
Following the Cobweb, his other favorite band is Robin and the New Revolution. “Robin’s voice is one in a million,” he says. “As the band is older than ours, we got our inspiration from this group. I like this band very much.
“The two other bands I like are Nepathya, and 1974 AD ,” he says. But when it comes to singers, he thinks that Nima Rumba is unmatchable, except, of course, an older Deep Shrestha, and the late Narayan Gopal.
When asked how much their fans will have to wait for their new album, Surendra says, “They have to wait just for a couple of months. We’re currently working on the music video of “The Best of Karma.” After that we’ll work on the production of our next album.”
So it’s all sweet suspense while waiting for the new sounds from Surendra and the Karma Band.
