Supporters reach jail to welcome Resham Chaudhary

KATHMANDU, Dec 12: After the government decided to introduce an ordinance granting amnesty to Resham Chaudhary and others, the supporters reached the jail to welcome Chaudhary. The supporters went and sat in front of the prison with garlands and flags of Nagarik Unmukti Party.

KATHMANDU, Dec 12: After the government decided to introduce an ordinance granting amnesty to Resham Chaudhary and others, the supporters reached the jail to welcome Chaudhary. The supporters went and sat in front of the prison with garlands and flags of Nagarik Unmukti Party.


A Cabinet meeting held on Sunday decided to introduce an ordinance by adding sub-section 9 to section 116 of the Civil Criminal Procedure Code, 2074 BS with the provision of general amnesty to 'political rebels'.

In the year 2072 BS, a child and seven security personnel including an SSP of Nepal Police were killed in a clash during the Tharuhat protest in Tikapur of Kailali. Chaudhary is serving life imprisonment after being found guilty in the massacre.
