KATHMANDU, May 26: The supply of the much-awaited drinking water from the Melamchi Drinking Water Project in the households of Bhaktapur has begun since Wednesday afternoon. Currently, the drinking water tank at Katunje has been used to distribute drinking water to wards no. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Bhaktapur.
The distribution of the drinking water in the municipality began after the Chief of Bhaktapur Municipality, Sunil Prajapati and the Former Chief of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) Bhaktapur, Surendra Himalaya Shrestha, jointly inaugurated the distribution.
Asserting that drinking water would be his foremost priority, Prajapati, in his election campaigns, had emphasized distributing the drinking water from the Melamchi Water Project in the municipality within the second week of Jestha.
The residents of Bhaktapur were joyous after the drinking water reached their houses. The locals of Khauma, Itachhe, Bolachhe, and Toumadi, who had been experiencing problems in accessing drinking water for the last 20 years, expressed their gratitude towards Prajapati. However, pipes of several places in the municipality began bursting after the distribution of the drinking water. The locals have asked for an immediate resolution to this.
