Super 8's cricket from March 28

KATHMANDU, March 16: Khukuri Ent along with Devibas Events and Media Pvt Ltd are jointly organizing Super 8's cricket tournament from March 28 to April 1 at TU grounds, Kirtipur. 

The seven-over tournament will feature 20 teams in total, informed Binayak Bikram Thapa, president of the organizing committee during a press conference on Thursday. “This format of cricket is popular in Australia and New Zealand and we are introducing it for the first time in Nepal,” Thapa said.  

The event will be played in league-cum-knockout format and the participants will be divided into five groups with four teams in each group. The winner of each group and three best runners-up will book quarterfinal ticket.

The winner and runner-up will bag purse of Rs 100,000 and 50,000 respectively along with trophies. The best player will be rewarded Rs 20,000 while the best bowler and batsman will walk home with Rs 10,000 each. The expected cost of the event is about Rs 2 million.
