A police source said, “Rana and deceased Gurung were in a relationship since the last three months and were in touch even after the girl´s marriage.”
SSP Subodh Ghimire, Chief of MPRO, said, “We are still questioning him and hope that the real cause of the murder will be unveiled soon. We are also taking statements from other suspects."
The police sources confirmed that Rana, who wanted to avoid her after the marriage, seemed to have killed her in a fit of anger. He has told the police that the girl persistently followed him and even blackmailed him frequently.
“I had called her to discuss and resolve the problem. But she behaved differently, so I was compelled to use the weapon that was in my bag,” Rana told the police.
Before the incident, the two met near New Road gate and agreed to talk in a hotel room. “All of sudden she began shouting at me and pushed off the bed,” he said to the police.
“In a fit of anger, I attacked her with a kitchen knife and fled the hotel,” he confessed to the police.
The 25 year old girl victim had got married to another man just three months ago.
