KATHMANDU, Nov 13: Former Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Sumana Shrestha has responded to her critics who labeled her an opportunist through a poem.
On Wednesday, she shared a poem titled “I Am an Opportunist!” on social media, stating that seeking opportunities to serve the nation and its people is what she considers true opportunism.

Inspired by the famous poem “The Lunatic” by Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Shrestha’s piece expresses her desire to seize opportunities to ease people’s pain, kindle light in darkness, and walk on the path of justice.
“If serving others is a crime, I accept that crime,” she wrote. “If believing in change is madness, I embrace that madness.”
Through her poem, Shrestha also criticized political silence, calling it a form of crime. Warning that halting the moment of change would allow the corrupt to rise again, she wrote, “You may mock me, you may shout that I am an opportunist, but I will not remain silent — because silence itself is a crime.”
