LAMJUNG, July 31: Suicide cases in Lamjung district have been rising steadily over the past few years. In the district with population of 166,150, a total of 24 suicide cases were registered at the District Police Office (DPO) in the fiscal year 2014/15.

"Individuals who are psychologically weak and have low self-esteem see no other way out of their problems and resort to suicide as the final way out," said Lamjung District Police Office SP Pawan Giri.
DPO records of the past three years show that a total of 71 people committed suicide -- 24 cases were recorded in 2014/15; 20 in 2013/14 and 27 in 2012/13.Inspector Rajendra Adhikari of the District Police Office informed that all the cases of suicide reported at DPO in the fiscal year 2014/15 are yet to be settled and the process may take up to two years.
