KALIKOT, Feb 25: Test flights have been successfully conducted at Suntharali Airport in Kalikot. Nagendra Bahadur Bista, chairman of Narharinath Rural Municipality, said that a Tara Air aircraft, which flew from Nepalgunj with a technical team, successfully completed the test flight to Suntharali Airport on Sunday.

The construction of this airport was completed on February 23, 2023.

In the year and a half since its completion, the inauguration date for the project has been scheduled three times. Pradeep Bohora, spokesperson for Narharinath Rural Municipality, mentioned that after surpassing the third scheduled inauguration date, the ceremony is now slated for February 26.

According to him, there is a program to conduct the test flight at the airport on February 26 by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati.

The actual works to build the airport at Suntharali of Kalikot started in 2042 BS. On the initiative of the local residents, the then District Development Committee of Kalikot had allocated an amount of Rs 100,000 and started the construction of the airport.
