MUGU, Feb 17: A sub-inspector of Nepal Police was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Gamgadhi, the district headquarters of Mugu, on Friday evening.
Sub-Inspector Surya Bahadur Shahi of Chain Police station, Mugu, has been accused of raping a woman living in the district headquarters Gamgadhi who originally hails from Chayanath Rara Municipality-5. According to the District Police Office (DPO), Sub-Inspector Shahi had called the woman in Chain River of Chayanath Rara Municipality at around 6 pm to collect the money that she had lent him a few days ago.
Man arrested on the charge of raping a minor
After returning home from work, the victim’s husband Kamal Nepali could not find his wife. Therefore, he asked his sister-in-law and found out that she had gone somewhere to collect her money. As she did not return for a while, he went to search for her and found her on the way to Chain village. After hearing about the horrible experience of his wife, Kamal immediately went to DPO and filed a complaint.
According to him, Police refused to register his complaint initially but they finally did after his repeated request. He has stated that Shahi even tried to threaten him for not doing so.
As per the statement recorded by the victim, on Friday evening Shahi called her for collecting her money saying he has been shifted to Sorukot Police Station and will have to go to work early morning.
