“We welcome TU´s decision to roll back its earlier decision to hike fees by 10 folds,” Ramkumari Jhankri, president of All Nepal Free Students Union (ANFSU) told myrepublica.com after a meeting of all 13 students unions Saturday evening. “However, we still oppose TU´s decision to hike fees by five folds.”
Jhankri said students unions would also focus on other issues plaguing the university. “TU has fallen prey to problems ranging from mismanagement to political interference,” she said. “Our efforts will now be aimed at ridding TU of all these problems.”
According to Jhankri, students unions have formed a taskforce comprising members of all the unions. The taskforce led by Narayan Koju of Nepal Revolutionary Students Union (NRSU) has been entrusted with the task of enlisting problems faced by TU.
“The taskforce will set guidelines for future programs of agitation,” Jhankri told myrepublica.com. Student unions have been staging protests following TU´s decision to hike educational fees by 10 folds in all its constituent and affiliated campuses.
