Student unions seek educational reforms

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Various students' unions have demanded that problems existing in the education sector be addressed. 


All Nepal National Free Students' Union, All (Revolutionary) and the Nepal Students' Union (NSU) today issued a joint press meet, expressing their concerns over anomalies seen in the education sector. They have sought the government intervention in irregularities reported in the medical education sector.

A 21-member monitoring committee has been formed under the leadership of ANNFSU president Nabina Lama, All Revolutionary president Ranjit Tamang and NSU President Nainsingh Mahar. This team will monitor the Universal Medical College ( Bhairahawa), Chitwan Medical College ( Bharatpur), Kist Medical College (Lalitpur), Gandaki Medical College ( Pokhara) and National Medical College ( Birgunj). 


These students' organizations have demanded free basic and secondary education as guaranteed by the constitution from the coming academic session, warning that they would come up a stronger form of protest if demands fell on dear years, according to NSU joint general secretary Prem Joshi. RSS
