Student unions demand FSU election

KATHMANDU, Jan. 17: Eight different student unions have demanded immediate election of the Free Students Union (FSU).



A meeting of eight student unions including the Nepal Students Union, All Nepal National Free Students Union, All Nepal Independent Students Union-Sixth, Madhesi Students Forum, National Democratic Students Association, among others, held here today decided to demand the election.[break]



The meeting also demanded not hinder the transmission of the Image Channel by scrapping ban on different TV channels.



Welcoming the demonstration of different political parties to be organised on January 19 demanding justice to the family of journalist Dekendra Thapa of Dailekh, the meeting also decided to be active for its effectiveness.



According to Spokesperson of NSU, UP Lamichhane, they decided to hold meetings in all the 75 districts on January 21 to launch agitation, to organize rally from Exhibition Road on January 22 and to picket the District Administration Offices across the nation on January 24.



Election of the Free Students Union has not been held for the past four years.
