LUMBINI, Jan 8: Butwal Sub-metropolitan City has started bulldozing structures that were built at public places.

According to the sub-metropolis sources, the drive has been put in place to remove illegal structures so as to create space for the construction of a rest house, park and town hall.

As part of the campaign to remove illegal physical structures built with encroachment of public land, the sub-metropolis demolished three huts in ward-5, Haat Bazaar, and one in Nepalgunj road on Sunday.

The illegally-constructed structures were removed with support from the Area Police Office, Butwal, city police, land section and local people when the concerned side did not proactively clear the public sites despite several correspondences, informed Butwal Sub-metropolis-5 chair Hari Prasad Shrestha.

He further said the 'Ujir Singh Falcha, Ramapithecus Park' will be constructed in the road areas where illegal structures are being removed.

Likewise, the sub-metropolis has dispatched a letter to remove the remaining illegal structures of ward-5, Nepalgunj road. Preparations are on to remove the structures in the near future.

Butwal Sub-metropolis has run a campaign to construct parks and chautaris by protecting public land in the areas including ward-6.
