Strong wind causes massive damage in Jhapa

JHAPA, May 11: Heavy wind along with rain this evening has caused massive damage in Bhadrapur, Duhagadhi, Mechinagar, Dhaijan and Shaniarjun areas in Jhapa district.

The wind that lasted for 15 minutes has blown away the roofs of many houses and many electricity poles have been uprooted. Many houses have been completely damaged after the storm.


Likewise, the roof of Puhatu Janajyoti Higher Secondary School office was blown away while the roofs of five classrooms were also blown away, school headmaster Shivaram Luintel said.

A total of 13 electricity poles have been uprooted in Parijat Chowk and an electric transformer has been damaged.

Furthermore, 12 houses of squatters at Bhadrapur-12 have been completely damaged and the locals have been rendered homeless.

Likewise, 20 houses have been demolished in Shaniarjun-1. The details of the damages are awaited. RSS
